June 17, 2010 Amadeus said BCD Travel signed a letter of intent to use technology based on Amadeus One, the new Amadeus agent desktop currently in testing with Travel Leaders Corporate. Balboa Travel also will use Amadeus One, The Beat reported this week. BCD will use Amadeus technology to "replace a set of tools used by central service groups based in North America, such as BCD Travel's central fulfillment and after-hours teams. The Amadeus One agency desktop solution will be used as the 'baseline' for the new design," the companies announced. June 4, 2010 TRX announced that ResX booking tool users can now share itineraries on Facebook and TripIt, with more social networks coming "soon." The enhancements are part of a new ResX version which also features an updated user interface, improved traveler messaging, easier access to traveler profiles and more reporting capabilities, TRX said. February 4, 2010 Sabre Travel Network announced a "global pilot of a new travel agent workflow solution" and graphical interface to simplify agency operations, including a "customer profile system that intelligently leverages client policies and preferences in the shopping and booking process." The system "operates across global distribution systems, enabling larger travel management companies that serve clients on more than one GDS to simplify their operations with a standardized workflow across their customer base" and is a "key component of Sabre's merchandising platform," the company announced. Multiple agencies in the Americas had agreed to participate in the pilot, according to Sabre. Amadeus, Farelogix and Travelport all previously announced new agent desktop products for delivery in 2010. November 20, 2009 Amadeus said Travel Leaders Corporate agreed to pilot its "next-generation suite of IT solutions and services." Designed for North America, Amadeus One includes "an integrated, customizable, Web-based, multi-source" agent desktop and support from a technology consulting team. Amadeus said a "patent-pending translation feature" allows agencies to use cryptic formats "while still getting the rich policy compliant results available in a graphical environment." Beyond pilot agencies, Amadeus said full availability of Amadeus One "is planned for the second half of 2010." August 12, 2009 Amadeus announced plans to unveil in North America a Web-based, multi-source agent desktop for corporate agencies. Called Amadeus One, the suite that incorporates the desktop also includes cryptic command "translation" in a graphical environment, global distribution system and non-GDS content, new profile software, rules at the point of sale, client data services and shared content with self-booking tools. June 1, 2009 Users of the TRX Resx booking tool now can access "all" of Air Canada's content. The latest version of Resx includes a matrix display showing Air Canada's various fare levels and product attributes compared with other airline options. TRX connected with an Air Canada application programming interface, which also connects to self-booking systems provided by Concur and KDS, and to Canadian agent desktops using Travelport's Galileo system. May 27, 2009 TRX announced a new user interface for its Traveltrax data reporting solution. The company has sunset its more customized Datatrax offering. The new Traveltrax interface "incorporates three key Web design principles--simplification, improved accessibility and user-driven customization," according to TRX. January 20, 2009 The FedTraveler.com service added GetThere's DirectGovernment system for booking and reservations components. FedTraveler.com is operated by HP company EDS as part of the General Service Administration's E-Gov Travel Service initiative. According to GetThere, FedTraveler.com agency users include the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security and Housing and Urban Development, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Trade Commission. According to FedTraveler.com program executive Scott Smith, a key development was "GetThere's successful adaptation of the Travelocity user interface." November 18, 2008 Amadeus executive vice president David Jones will replace José Antonio Tazón as president and CEO on Jan. 1, the company said. Tazón will become non-executive chairman of the Amadeus IT Group board, replacing Stuart McAlpine. Senior vice president Philipe Chérèque will replace Jones.
