Related Newslog Items August 9, 2010 Sabre Travel Network this year will roll out a business intelligence solution powered by TRX, the companies announced. Called Sabre Red Business Intelligence, the product will offer agencies and their clients "an extensive range of graphical dashboards and intuitive reports including deep benchmarking tools." It will use Sabre's data to help users determine, for example, "percentage of tickets purchased seven days in advance versus industry benchmark, number of overnight trips purchased with a hotel against industry standard and average number of refunds and exchanges per ticket compared to the industry average." The solution also will facilitate client reports on "spend management, program management, policy compliance, cost savings, carbon emissions, supplier activity and benchmarking insights." August 3, 2010 Amadeus named former TRX Inc. vice president Darrin Deck vice president of sales and account management for North America operations. "Deck will focus on leading and managing client relationships to deliver on the needs of Amadeus' corporate travel companies and online travel agencies in the U.S. and Canada," the company announced. Deck reports to executive vice president for the Americas Vic Pynn, also a former TRX exec. July 15, 2010 NBTA called on the U.S. Department of Transportation to "use its existing and common sense authority to direct the airlines to provide full transparency" on ancillary fees. According to comments provided by NBTA to a congressional subcommittee examining airline fees, "ancillary fees are ultimately part of the total net fare. It is imperative that airlines provide full transparency to the public, including corporate travel managers and travel agencies, with regard to all fares, fees and other charges related to transporting passengers and their luggage, as well as booking, ticketing, billing, and fulfilling those services." NBTA also wrote that it formed a task force to seek solutions for challenges related to ancillary fees. It includes representatives from AirPlus, Amadeus, American Airlines, American Express, ARC, Airilne Tariff Publishing Company, BCD Travel, Concur, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, MasterCard, Monsanto, Sabre, Thomson Reuters, 3sixtysourcing, TRX and US Airways. June 25, 2010 TRX enhanced its Truexpense solution with language localization in England, France and Germany, Value Added Tax (VAT) processing and the ability to split expenses across multiple cost centers and business units. TRX in April announced the software's launch. June 15, 2010 TRX announced traveler security and tracking enabled by its Traveltrax reporting solution. "Travelers can be instantly notified via integrated e-mail and SMS messaging services during travel disturbances, such as the recent volcanic ash crisis," according to a TRX press release which also indicated that more than 10,000 corporations are using Traveltrax. The new services also offer travel managers and corporate security specialists "enhanced on-demand visibility into traveler whereabouts and new direct communication options to alert travelers of pending travel and security challenges." June 4, 2010 TRX announced that ResX booking tool users can now share itineraries on Facebook and TripIt, with more social networks coming "soon." The enhancements are part of a new ResX version which also features an updated user interface, improved traveler messaging, easier access to traveler profiles and more reporting capabilities, TRX said. May 6, 2010 Travis Tanner, formerly CWT's chief executive and an EVP at BCD Travel and Disney, joined TRX in February for what a spokesman called "a sales capacity." April 27, 2010 TRX plans to announce a "travel and expense reporting solution" that includes a mobile application enabling users "to upload receipt images into the expense reporting software." Truexpense is the name of the offering. April 12, 2010 OAG agreed to resell TRX's airline carbon emissions calculator and reporting services "to its customer base including corporations, airlines, and airports," the companies said. March 31, 2010 TRX released the next generation of its Correx transaction processing tool, featuring new browser-based "self-service functionality" that enables clients to "define how and when traveler reservations are processed for automated quality control, auto-ticketing, unused e-ticket tracking and itinerary email delivery."
